We had a very pleasant last few days in Croatia, great weather, lots of swimming and sunbathing…. very hard life! Stu cooked up a great meal last night from all local produce. He went shopping on his own in the afternoon and brought the most amazing Olive Oil (to good to cook with, perfect for bread dunking tho), local wine sold in plastic bottles from a huge barrel, sweetest tomatoes, and mussels all brought from various roadside sellers/farmers wife. Needless to say he was very pleased with himself, however the love of this new olive oil is nothing compared to the love he is lavishing on a basil plant he brought way back in Germany! I actually heard him reprimand the girls who were pulling leaves off the plant that they should love “Baz” like a brother or sister, I am getting seriously worried that he is treating the basil plant like a third child. It is the last thing that gets loaded into the car when we pack up and he spends more time giving it a comfortable spot in the boot than the children (Stu would like it known the children don’t travel in the boot – they might crush Baz). As such I feel he has become part of the family and I am considering a Basil blog, keep watching for Baz updates and photos...
FOD:
Basil, a member of the mint family, was used in colonial India by magistrates who used to get Hindus to swear on the holy herb.
