Day 21 - The Istrian Coast of Croatia

Well the 2.5hour drive from Slovenia to the Croatian coast was a pleasure through Austrain style mountain scenery and villages, so much so that Stu even paid the tolls.

We arrived at a massive campsite a little worried about the size, but although very large it has 3 km (sorry 2 mile – for our British readership) beach front in a cove so it doesn’t feel that big. There are some advantages though – it has its own fish market (that will be brutally attacked for tomorrows main meal). Olivia saw mussels in the sea this evening and demanded them on her plate!

I know it’s not great weather in the UK but it’s 34 here and I can tell you all that the Adriatic this August is very warm and crystal clear. Still smile when you go to work tomorrow because Stu stood on a sleepy wasp earlier with obvious consequences for both!

We are all feeling completely relaxed and I am astounded by how much I am actually enjoying the caravan experience! Thought I would be ready to retire to a hotel or home by now but no no no!

On a side note Stu was sad to leave behind Slovenia especially because all the local males over 42 advertised for the ‘118-118’ company but is now worried to be among the ‘southern mediteranian male’ complete with not very big ‘banana hammock’.  You’ve got to stereo-types that are true.

Pictures include bathtime at the Hillbillies and the 'nail-bar'. Obviously view from Stu's sunlounger (my knees are slighlty more hairy).

  1. Yet again it looks great, love the bathtime, I am sure the 2.5 hour journey was a pleasure when it took us 7 hours to Cornwall. After saying it looked like a day without sun I was wrong Saturday started cloudy by turned out to be a sunny day could have been a beach day if Ethan had been older, today another sunny day spent in Padstow, it does give rain for tomorrow but we will have to wait and see. Everyone here is well and we do not want to go home but needs must and there will be no room at the Inn anyway. Hope your week goes well in Croatia. Give the girls a big hug and lots of kisses from us. Love Mum & Dad xxxx

  3. Lovely to see you're having a good time. If you are heading to Lido di Jesolo near Venice , beach is great and Pizza Manzini in Piazza Nember does Yummy chocolate pizzas, best in the Veneto ....good opportunity for Olivia and Eloise to impress the local boys....especially with those nails:-)
