Day 24 - Rovinj

Well as you can see from the piccies we spent yesterday evening at Rovinj a near-by town. It was beautiful, very Italian (not surprising when this area was ruled over from Venice for 100’s of years)– pastel coloured buildings with window boxes and shutters looking over the Adriatic.

Olivia and Eloise not only live like but look like gypsies (Stu’s words) after having a strand of their hair braided. Olivia has been yearning for such tat since she set sail after seeing them in holidays past. However, this year, armed with mucho Euros from grandparents there was nothing in her way! Eloise’s boredom / tired tears on the quayside at 10’o’clock in the evening were translated by the Croatian hair braider (proper gypsy) as envious tears with lack of hair. Before you could say ‘lucky heather’ Eloise left with a pink coloured rats tail (Stu’s description) for free. The braider says they will last for a year – Stu says they won’t.

FOD:

Pula the next town along the coast has the worlds 6th largest Roman Amphitheatre (26,000) the top are:

1. The Colosseum (50,000)

2. El Djem - N Africa (35,000)

3. The Verona Arena (30,000) - If you've never been to the August Opera festival there, you should go, its stunning!

  1. We know the area quite well and are very envious because we had a great holiday near there. We only said the other night that we had not seen anything of the braid, and don't forget that whats holiday money is for, things you can't normally have. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Croatia. Lots of love to you all Mum, Dad, Nannie and Grandad xxxx

  4. It was sunny today! AND HOT!! Pula has very distinctive houses-round and...distinctive. Are you impressed with my knowledge?
I laughed about the hairbraids! Oh yes they will stay in for a year Stu! What they don't tell you is that the hair underneath comes out an entirely different colour and smell from when it went in and it's so awful that you have to cut it off. Hairbraids rock don't they Olivia? YEAH!! Still jealous of the weather if not your top of the range awning!Lots of Love!!!
